Kia’s first-ever electric vehicle has come a long way from its humble 2015 introduction. The current Soul EV is based on the car’s third generation design, introduced in 2020.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
For 2022, the Soul EV gets the brand’s modern new logo. Otherwise, this boxy battery electric is carried over from 2021 without so much as a price increase.
Available Trims
You can specify your Soul EV in Premium or Limited trim levels. Premium has the smaller of two battery packs; Limited’s larger battery boasts more performance and driving range.
Standard Features
Standard kit includes 17-inch alloy wheels, LED exterior lighting, heated side mirrors, heated front seats and steering wheel, automatic A/C, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation, wireless phone charging, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and passive keyless entry.
Premium also comes with adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, driver attention warning, forward collision avoidance assist, and rear cross-traffic alert.
Limited adds rain-sensing wipers, a sunroof, leather seating with ventilation up front and heat in the rear, Harman Kardon audio, a head-up display, and ambient lighting.
Fuel Economy
Kia’s energy consumption estimates are 1.8/2.3 Le/100 km (city/highway) for Premium trim, and 1.9/2.4 Le/100 km in Limited configuration.
Competition
Kia Soul EV’s competitors include the Nissan Leaf, Chevrolet Bolt, Kia Niro EV, and Hyundai Ioniq Electric.
